This is a highly rewarding but challenging position located at our Metricon Mount Waverley Head Office. This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel to provide strategic and commercially astute legal advice.

Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, your responsibilities will include:

The Role:
Large variety of work, which will include:
• Front-end advice on construction projects, potentially >$100m, involving sophisticated counterparties, eg Government, CHPs, Land Developers, Infrastructure Investors
• Drafting and negotiation of a variety of construction and commercial agreements.
• Review and response to significant tenders
• Handling a mixture of disputes including litigation, court, tribunal appearances and mediation
• Cross border transactions
• General commercial advisory
• Compliance – advertising, licensing and training

Requirements:
You must have between 5 to 10 years' front-end and back-end construction experience from a leading law firm or an in-house team in Australia or another major construction and infrastructure heavy jurisdiction.

In addition, you will have:
• Sound understanding of commercial objectives, combined with the ability to devise legal solutions to overcome barriers to those commercial objectives being received
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A client focused approach
• An ability to build strong client relationships with multiple stakeholders
• An ability to be flexible and efficient under pressure
• A preparedness to roll your sleeves up and deepen your understanding of the relevant projects so you can provide the most value-adding advice
• A team focused attitude.
