Our National Product Development Team drives the creation of innovative house designs that enhances customer experiences and shapes the future of Australia’s housing industry.

This position in our Mount Waverley Office, is for individuals eager to immense themselves in a creative environment and have the chance to contribute to meaningful projects that impact Metricon’s success. You will work closely with the Product Designers and cross-functional teams to support the development of new products.

Reporting to the Design Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Abide by the team’s processes and standard procedures

Produce accurate design documentation that addresses the design brief and in alignment with product and display delivery programs

Prioritise and focus on design awareness of all aspects of the product range

Manage the design and documentation of all aspects of the home which may include – site plans, floor plans, facades, elevations, internals, design options, relevant details, and DOL/other forms of schedules

Keep up-to-date and adhere to national building codes and regulations

Aware of the procedures for obtaining permits and approvals for construction projects

Work to deadlines and contribute actively to individual and team workflow; and

Demonstrate a good knowledge of the product range and produce solutions to product designs accordingly.

The successful candidate will have:

Proficiency in design software and tools relating to house design. Preference for skills in REVIT

Passionate about residential architecture

Relevant degree or diploma in Building Design & Drafting, Diploma of Architectural Drafting or equivalent

Minimum 3 years of experience in design and/or drafting environment in residential

Experience in the residential volume home building industry in a design and/or drafting capacity is highly preferred

Proficiency with current versions Microsoft Office suite, and an aptitude for learning new systems

Understand building & planning codes and standards; and

Good communication and collaboration skills, thriving in a team-orientated environment.
